Hello Megan Fox!

mf06.jpg

As a pretty geeky guy, I was looking forward to seeing the new Transformers movie coming out July 4th because of my childhood obsession with the geeky toys. Now, I have a new excuse, and her name is Megan Fox. I’ve noticed her before watching that stupid Lindsay Lohan movie Confessions of a Teenaged Drama Queen (ya ya I watch retarded movies), and thought she was alright, but man, these pics show how classy hot she looks. She’s so classy, I’m not even going to talk about droppin’ loads over her, because that would be wrong.

Several more pics after the jump.

Jessica Biel and Sarah Silverman get it on

jbss1.jpg

Those that watched the MTV music awards got rewarded with this. Seriously, girl on girl action is hot… hot girl on hot girl action… excuse me while I clean up. Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Kimmel are lucky sons of bitches.

More for the bank after the jump, one with a nice shot of Sarah Silverman’s rack. I never thought they were THAT nice!

Weekend Movie: Grindhouse.

grindhouse1.jpg

After months of anticiation, I went to check out Grindhouse, the epic homage to 70’s and 80’s zombie and horror b-movies. Grindhouse tries to emulate the styles of yesteryear, 2 feature films, separated by an intermission. The first film, Planet Terror, is your typical slasher zombie movie, directed by Robert Rodriguez. If you can’t stand huge amounts of violence, just remember that this movie’s graphic depiction of people getting shot, heads chopped off is really fake. Yes, I’ve seen some gory stuff that’s real, and it’s nothing like this movie. Like Kill Bill, I call it cartoonish violence, basically gore that’s drawn up from one’s imagination of how it looks. If you can filter your way through it, what you’ll find is a movie with minimal plot, and lots of witty humour in light of what’s happening to the characters in the movie.

Between Planet Terror and Death Proof, are several hilarious, violent, and gory trailers for fake movies. Thanksgiving was my favorite one, combining humor and ridiculous violence brilliantly. I think the entire theater laughed through every one of its scenes, and it was a great segue into the next feature film, Tarantino’s Death Proof.

Death Proof was classic Tarantino, and gave viewers a break from the random violence, showcasing Tarantino dialogue at it’s best. 80% of the movie was intelligent and funny conversations that led to small scenes of violence, and I felt this one was much closer to realism. The plot is simple, it follows victims of serial killer “Stuntman Mike”, played by Kurt Russell, who kills his victims with his car. Zoe Bell, the stuntwoman for Uma in Kill Bill, put on film what I felt was one of the best stunt sequences in film. As a critic of directorial styles, I felt that Tarantino found a way to step up, after introducing ground breaking styles in Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, and Reservoir Dogs.

I’m not going into any more details, as I don’t want to ruin the movies for you, so go check it out! You will not be disappointed!

Grindhouse this weekend!

grindhouse.jpg

As a huge Tarantino fan, I’ve been waiting patiently for this release, and it’s finally here this weekend! 2 movies in one, Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror and QT’s Death Proof, this film is quite different from the norm, revisiting horror film styles of the 70’s and 80’s, but utilizing modern effects.

The films are loaded with hotties, and promotion is definately gearing towards showing off the babes, as evident by the Rolling Stones cover photo here where Rosario Dawson and Rose McGowan pose with nothing on but bullets. So hot, thank you QT for being such a genius! Even Fergie is in the movie, let’s hope she doesn’t look too manly.

The film premiers today, don’t miss it!

Jessica Biel Half Naked

jbiel2.jpg

Jessica Biel is set to star with Adam Sandler and Kevin James in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry this summer. In these HDTV screenshots captured from the trailer, it shows Jessica Biel showing off her amazing T&A, and lucky for Adam and Kevin, they got to grope her. That’s right, they’re getting paid to grope Jessica Biel’s tits and ass. I need to do stupid shit that gets me famous, because I want in on that action! More spanktastic shots after the jump.

Undercover Brother Eddie Griffin Totals Enzo

deadenzo.jpg deadenzo2.jpg

And this is why we have stuntmen. Eddie Griffin, promoting the new movie Redline, destroys this poor Enzo at what looks to be a makeshift autocross track at Irwindale Speedway in California. During practice, Eddie looks to be trying to take a right hander too fast, understeers, and corrects by dialing in more steering angle. As any racer would know, that’s a big nono, and the result was understeering well off the track into a tire barrier.

When interviewed after the incident, Griffin responds calmly, “You know undercover brother is good at Karate and all the rest of that, but… the brother can’t drive”. He’s so calm because it wasn’t his $1.5m Enzo that he just totaled. As for the poor owner? Let’s hope insurance covers this track event, as he says the car is totalled.

Check out the crash video, as well as the interview video. Be warned, it’s not pretty.

Update - Looks like the car belonged to Daniel Sadek, the producer of the film they were promoting.

Weekend Movie: Zodiac

zodiac.jpg

It took nearly 40 years before Hollywood made a serious attempt at a movie about the Zodiac Killer. There’s good reason too… the story and known facts just isn’t enough to make a full featured film. Unfortunately, Zodiac runs for OVER 2 and a half hours, so that gives you a good idea of how I felt about this movie. The problem was that they didn’t add enough fictional content to the movie, instead dragging out the same facts scene after scene. Remember, “based on a true story” doesn’t mean it has to stick with the truth… we watch movies to be entertained, and this movie was just way too slow.

The movie also jumped from timeframe to timeframe way too much. 3 months later. 8 months later. 2 1/2 years later. The reasoning was because true to the facts, the Zodiac killer did disappear for long stretches of time. Again, some fictional plot would’ve been better to help connect the multiple timelines of the movie. But then again, if they did add fictional plot to the movie, it would’ve been a copy of Dirty Harry, which was loosely based on the Zodiac Killer shortly after the first murders in 1971. In fact, they referenced this in Zodiac.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m very interested in the Zodiac Killer. In fact, I’ve read through the crime library files, the wikipedia files, I’ve watched an A&E special on it too, which covered all the facts and interesting items in the case, all covered within 60 minutes WITH commercials. If this is the first time you’ve heard of the Zodiac Killer, watch the shows I recommended instead of seeing this movie. It’ll make you want to try and find out more about the case than from watching the movie, which would probably leave you with a “who gives a fuck” mentality.

Kristin Cavallari… Hot!

kristin3.jpg

Kristin Cavallari, former star of Laguna Beach, poses for this month’s GQ magazine promoting her new movie Spring Breakdown. There’s something about hot chicks with guitars… girl rockers (or even wanna be ones) are damn fine! Gives me a great idea for a hotties trend. Of course, the ones below don’t disappoint either!

Star Wars original trilogy in HDTV

swep4.jpg

Thanks to HBO-HD, I’ve completed the entire Star Wars franchise (all 6 movies) in HDTV. Presented beautifully in OAR, these screenshots show how well LucasFilm restored these 70’s and 80’s classics. I was never a huge Star Wars fan… I’ve seen all the movies, but you’ll never see me attend one of those conventions dressed up as Darth Vader. In fact, it was playing Lego Star Wars that got me interested again.

More pics below from the series.

Weekend Movie: Stranger than Fiction

Stranger Than Fiction

When I rented this movie, I expected your typical Will Ferrell movie. I’ve seen the previews about a year ago, with the earlier ones portrayed it as such… well partially anyways, showcasing scenes of Ferrell and his (un)usual style of humor. About 20 minutes into the movie, I realized that it carried a much more serious overtone than his previous works.

This led me to question… how good is Will Ferrell in a more serious role? With roles like Mustafa from Austin Powers to Frank the Tank streaking down the street in Old School, I wasn’t too optimistic. Turns out, he fit this movie perfectly. The story revolves around IRS Agent Harold Crick (Ferrell), who lives in an apartment resembling a motel room, and lives his life following a strict routine and schedule. One day, he starts hearing a voice in his head, a narrative voice, that at first describes what he has just done, eventually predicting things just before they are about to happen.

One day, while waiting at a bus stop, the voice narrates that he’s on his way to his future death. Then… silence. Horrified, the story follows Crick as he searches for answers regarding death, as well as the narrative voice itself, which turns out to be a novelist (Emma Thompson) writing a book about an IRS agent named Harold Crick. That’s pretty much as much as I can explain without ruining the movie… I’m sure if you’ve seen the trailer you’ve seen this much.

This movie brought a very important message to the table… and that is to live life to the fullest. As regular readers of my forum have seen, I personally live my life to the fullest, trying to enjoy everything I can as if tomorrow may be my last day on earth. You only live once, so might as well enjoy everything life has to offer, even if it disagrees or hell, even offends people who believe in following what society deems “normal”.

If you are a Will Ferrell fan, this movie is a must watch, as it shows that Ferrell, much like Steve Martin, has the ability to act as well as humor the audience. I won’t go and ruin the ending, but it’s nice to know that Tragedy can be as powerful and entertaining as Comedy.

Weekend Movie: An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth

Correlation does not imply causation. This is a logical fallacy that everyday people… from Joe Blow, to scientists studying global warming, to politcal figures like Al Gore seems to have forgotten. Modern science has come this far because scientists and statisticians rely on this phrase when making conclusions, yet when it comes to global warming, it goes right out the window. Extreme views of a subject as well as presenting information in a way to confuse viewers, much like how the movie Fahrenheit 9/11 portrays the Bush Administration, is how I would sum up this movie. Of course, there’s going to be a lot of people that believe everything they see… such as celebs and agenda driven politicians, which is how this movie won the Oscar for best documentary.

Before I get flamed here, let me bring up one of the correlations that is easily proven today, and was presented in the movie in a decietful way. Al Gore brings up the CAFE mpg averages throughout the world, with Japan having much more average fuel ecomony than US, yet they (Toyota, Honda) are a much more successful than US counterparts (Ford, GM). For the general public, this correlation shows better fuel economy equates to more purchases by consumers, thus resulting in more successful car companies. As a car enthuiasts who knows the world of auto manufacturers very well, and one who follows auto news almost religiously, I know for a fact that GM and Ford’s troubles are due mainly to pension and health care costs (thank the unions for that), and poorer quality of product compared to the Japanese, and not CAFE averages.

Ian Murray did a lot of the homework for me, explaining 25 fallacies from this documentary, some of which I knew from as early as elementary school. Some of them require a bit of research to fully understand… and some, such as CO2’s effect on temperature (#1) and increase in tornadoes (#9) are fairly easy to grasp. #8, Hurricanes, is an interesting one as well. The GFDL released a statement based on their research of hurricanes vs climate change which contradicts what Al Gore stated in the movie. Again, the easiest one to comprehend is #3, which explains Gore’s insurance claims graph.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe global warming IS happening. I just don’t feel that CO2 emissions, and the drastic cutbacks that the global warming movement and Kyoto Accord is the right solution, or the direct cause of the current climate change “crisis”. Remember that when looking at the total amount of CO2 emissions worldwide, only 3% is generated by human activity, with the remaining is generated by mother nature… decomposition being a primary contributor. CO2 is an integral source of our food cycle, and disrupting it to a large degree would cause food shortages as well, with a very minimal effect on global temperatures. Don’t believe me? Do some basic research on your own… that’s the message I’m trying convey. Don’t believe everything that you read, including what I have to say, since everyone has an agenda.

Overall, a good movie, which opens some eyes for folks that want to investigate the issue on their own, but like Fahrenheit 9/11, it’s a bit irresponsible in that it creates mass hysteria based on misinformation, and with nanny law trends on the rise, it could be devestating to our economy and way of life for achieving something that does nothing to counteract global warming.

Movie Night: Happy Feet

Happy Feet

Last night, a few of us gathered around and watched Happy Feet, the penguin movie with the environmental message. The movie follow Mumble as an egg, a chick, then as a grown Penguin who can’t sing but can tap dance.

At first, I thought this was going to be one of those cute cartoon movies that’s more suitable for the girlfriends than for the guys. I was pleasantly surprised by the humor in the movie… the writer and director (not to mention the CGI guys) created a cast of characters that appeals both to kids, as well as adults. The humor of “the amigos” definately made the movie for me, as I have a whacked out sense of humor.

With great singing and choreography in the film, it’s a great Friday night movie with the family, or with friends. Nicole Kidman, who also sings in Moulin Rouge, sounds great as Mumble’s mother. Although I’m not a huge fan of Robin Williams (an understatement, I try to avoid many of his movies), he was great here as the voice of both Ramon and Lovelace. The ending seemed kinda rushed, but other than that, a great watch! rage2 recommended!
