As mentioned in an earlier post, here are some pics of the new radical McLaren front wing. Looking at the design of the upper wing, it does look like the primary purpose is to clean up and redirect airflow better around the car, less drag with close to the same downforce. The front suspension was also modified slightly to work with this new design. It doesn’t look like the wing is adjustable, and with such a low angle of attack, I believe it’s used purely for airflow management, redirecting airflow to where the engineers want it for cooling without having the front suspension impede the flow causing drag.
Around the paddock, there’s speculation that because the top wing is only supported by the endplates that McLaren might be caught in a moving aero rules breach, but again, because of it looks like an airflow management device and not a primary downforce generating device, there shouldn’t be a huge vertical load on the wing, thus little to no movement.
Lap times are all over the place today, so no real indication as to who’s aero is better. Ferrari has changed their floors to comply with the new rules, and have also introduced a new series of aero parts, mostly to improve cooling issues that they’ve been dealing with. Hopefully we’ll see more laptimes to indicate which team is going to perform better at the next race, in the meantime here’s a few more closeups of the new McLaren front wing and suspension updates.

So in addition to being a pit babe for Spyker F1Â at the Monaco GP, Spyker has handed over the keys to a Spyker C8 Spyder to the socialite to partake in this year’s Bullrun. I’m not sure how good she can drive, but if she can handle a SLR McLaren, she should do fine right? We’ll find out soon, since SpikeTV will once again be covering this year’s Bullrun.
Wow, Tara Reid has been really impressive lately. Just over a year ago, she was plumb and juicy overweight, strung out on coke, and poppin’ her titties out at random events without even knowing it. Look at her today, she’s almost got that old girl next door look back! Is this the new in thing? Britney’s getting hotter again too, well, not hot enough for me to post pics yet, but still, I’m floored at the turn around.

I thought I was good at Guitar Hero. Until I see this video. She’s part of a professional video game player’s team, but still… I can’t even finish Jordan, let along five star it. For some reason, I find the video kinda hot. I’m not sure if it’s seeing a girl play guitar hero so well, or the titty bounces at the end when she’s happy with her 5 star score. Whatever the case, it’s worth the watch.

So this weekend, I took the Yaris out for a 340km roadtrip with the gang at Beyond Car Forums. We do a yearly cruise as a meet and greet, and for some of us to run our cars on the highway. This year, due to uncontrollable weather, we ended up going to the Dinosaur Capital of the World, Drumheller, AB.
The roads out to Drumheller is mostly long flat straights, with a few high speed sweeping turns near the town, and a series of mid speed turns heading into the valley where the town resides. On the straights, the Yaris topped out at 185km/h (I’m sure the roof rack, bike rack, and the rally spoiler took top speed down by a good 10km/h). With the lowered suspension, the Yaris held it’s own around the corners. Even though the Yaris was the least powerful car of the bunch, everyone in the comments and pics thread was surprised at how fast I was in the car, because I guess I’m good at maintaining speed, especially through the corners where I drove 8 to 9/10ths. I even got the tires to squeel around one of the high speed bends at 150km/h, approaching the cornering limits of the stock tires!
The real test for the Yaris was from comments from other Yaris owners regarding highway stability in such a light car. While the car was affected by wind (it was fairly windy on Sunday), it was nowhere near as bad as what some owners described. During one long straight section where we were pelted by crosswinds at around 60km/h, I had to give light steering corrections to keep the car straight. Hopefully, the new wheels and tires, which are 20% wider, will solve this issue.
Anyways, check out the thread on the cruise, there were lots of funny moments with some great pictures! Unfortunately, I didn’t have my wheels nor Sparco seats installed yet, so I blended in with the background a little too much, and there weren’t many pics of the Yaris.
Regular readers of my ramblings have probably noticed that I focus a lot on 2 things… McLaren’s F1 efforts, and Paris Hilton. Unfortuantely, I have a very tough decision to make, as Paris Hilton has confirmed that she will be a pit babe for the Spyker F1 team at the Monaco GP this year. I never would have imagined that these 2 completely different personalities of my blog would cross AND give me such difficulties in choosing one over the other? Who would’ve thought life could be so complex?
McLaren added a host of aero updates to their 2007 challenger this week, and performed untimed straight line testing at a private airfield in Menorca on Wednesday. The changes are hard to pick up visually, but are said to be a lot cleaner in terms of drag without any changes in downforce, giving the MP4-22 better straight line speed without sacraficing cornering abilities. McLaren CEO Martin Whitmarsh quotes, “The updated package is not aesthetically very different, but we hope to bring a winning car to Barcelona”. Along with Ron Dennis’s recent comments of making the Spanish GP a 2 horse race, McLaren is very confident that they will be the team to beat in 2 weeks time.
Meanwhile, Michael Schumacher publically spoke about Lewis Hamilton for the first time, praising the young rookie for his efforts and results in only 3 GP starts. He quotes, “Lewis clearly has a lot of talent so it does not surprise me at all that he has been doing very well. But what has been a real surprise is his consistency”.
With glowing reviews on the hardware as well as the driving duo, will we see the team pull ahead of Ferrari at the Spanish GP? We’ll know more during next week’s Barcelona testing. Stay tuned!

They have to fix the price on the download packs tho. Although I’m not complaining, almost everyone else is complaining about the price of the songs on the official GH forums.

I haven’t watched SNL since Tina Fey’s departure, because the humor level of the show has gone completely down the toilet, but this weekend the greatest tits in showbiz made an appearance, and I made my Tivo record ‘em. I was kinda curious how funny Scarlett would be doing comedy, and maybe it’s the shitty writing on the show, but it wasn’t that funny. Not to mention that most sketches didn’t showcase her real stars. To top it off, they had her play Quatto from Total Recall, which isn’t exactly appealing, as evident by 4 cast members projectile vomiting around her.
Whatever, I’d still hit it!
